Figure 1 - Medical Cases App Reviews

Great way to do informal case studies, but...

I really have enjoyed this app. The community is great, and everyone stays professional, but the comments section needs a complete re-work, its EXTREMELY confusing, and can cause the same question to be asked over and over. Time stamps for comments and cases would also really help. I have also not been verified as a medical provider after nearly a week. This app has HUGE potential, and can really help other providers, but it does need some work.

Amazing learning tool.

Great app for students! Id like to see two improvements: 1. Easier way to adjust profile titles without making a new account (med student to physician, etc.) 2. Displayed definitions at the top of hash tag links to quickly orient those that are unfamiliar with a given condition. As of right now, I find it best to use the app on my phone with a PC also available to quickly look up definitions. Would be great to consolidate down to just the phone!

Great concept, horrible execution

Ive used this app for months and have taken part in case discussions that others have posted to teach and test students. This has been very helpful to me, and fellow students in our studies. The latest update has removed the ability for students to search categories, follow colleagues, see alerts or post comments. All while "verified professionals" bicker like children, having personal fights in case comments. Additionally, the Figure1 TOS states that no sharing of case information or photos is allowed, but there is a new "share" option that allows you to post case information and photos straight to your Twitter, Facebook and other social media websites. So much for patient anonymity. The concept of this app is brilliant. There were small issues before, like the voting system changing the order of case comments. The latest update has turned a great learning tool for students into a slideshow.

DELETING APP...Ive been checking back daily as of Jan 1 2016 as i thought it was just a bug to be fixed, but it seems categories and sections were removed. This was my favorite part of the app as checking for the psychological disorders was my "favorite" section as it is what I am studying. Please bring back the browsing sections to choose from.

Was good.... until update

This app was amazing. I work in the healthcare field, not as a professional but I loved scrolling through and learning and discussing with my husband who is a physician. The search option was great and I loved looking through different specialties. But not since the update. No more searching or looking through categories. All I ever see now are films and test results *yawn*. This app was so smart playing off peoples interest in gore and now Im bored, my husband is bored, and we will no longer use this app. Yea yea Im sure its educational and whatever but for the majority of the "common" public it was all a about the gross, fascinating, and ugly reality and now we dont get to indulge. Way to go.

No longer fun for non professionals

I downloaded this app a while ago and it was great. Im not a healthcare professional but interested in a career in healthcare so this app was a lot of fun and informative. However, recently many features have been made inaccessible for non healthcare professionals. We can no longer search, view notifications, follow people, or view any images besides X-rays, MRI, etc. I understand that non professionals should not get the same privileges as doctors or nurses, but removing these features seems unnecessary. I used to love this app, but much of its educational aspect has been destroyed.

Wheres the search button??

Cant find the search button! Please bring this back!

Was good until update

I will echo what others have said about the update, and I want to remind Figure 1: Dont forget about the students and non-professional support staff.

One in 100 posters are in a medical field

Seems to be all "pre-nursing" or "pre-pre-nursing students" who flood the comments with questions (what is AOX3?, what is GCS? What is MVA?) that are easily answered by Google and comments that jump on one diagnosis and bury the actual diagnosis (that bone cyst that hasnt grown in a decade is definitely Ewing sarcoma (a very aggressive disease) and not an anuresmal bone cyst.

Great app very educational for students

Its like Instagram for science students !!

Great App and service

I have an iPhone 6 and this app is excellent. Its a great tool and has accurate content. I was having app difficulties and the figure 1 app staff emailed me and fixed me problem, and I love the app.

Search tool is gone...Booo!

Very disappointed that the search feature is gone with the latest update. I wont be using this app anymore.

Deleted after the update

The app wasnt fun anymore. I used to learn about the medical field from this app. However, they took away the search feature and stopped allowing categories.

Two thumbs up!!

Fantastic app!! Very entertaining for those in the medical field or are thinking about it

Im not welcome here anymore

This app used to be amazing! Im not a medical professional (I teach college chemistry) but have always been fascinated by the human body. When I discovered this app last year, I fell in love! I learned more about the body and diseases in a few short months than I had in my entire life. Sadly, that mostly ended after the update-of-exclusion a short while back. The powers that be decided that Figure1 was no longer to be the wonderful educational community that I had grown to love, and eliminated most of the features that made it so. Before, the community of practicing doctors would often post cases for med students to try to solve and were so friendly and warm and supportive as they guided them toward the correct diagnoses. Ive noticed that this type of activity has decreased to almost nothing from what it was before. Or, perhaps, Im only allowed to see this little because Im not of the anointed class? I didnt know it was possible to be personally offended by an app update until this app update. Thanks, Figure1 for this last, truly memorable educational experience. FWIW, the app still has some value. And if youre new to it (and not a medical professional) youll never know how much you missed out on, so, its probably worth a try. However, I am heartbroken that this "update" destroyed such a brilliant resource.

No search/browse option?

After the app lost its search/browse feature, I lost my interest.

Update ruined a gem

This app was much more engaging when i could search and browse categories. It was a wonderful learning tool as i worked to get into medical school. What a waste of potential it is now.

Love it

Great app--performs quickly, interface is easy to use. As a health care provider I appreciate the verification process for pre-professional and professional health care workers.

A must for medical professionals

Love this app. Great for expanding your experience in the medical field and learning new diagnoses and their management.

So addicting

Awesome app for students and medical professionals alike! I was so excited to share this with my professors. Great idea.
